Ohio Judges Identified as Justice System Leaders

Two Ohio judges will participate in a national two-year leadership and management initiative after being identified as “justice system leaders of tomorrow.”

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael P. Donnelly and Fairfield County Municipal Court Judge Patrick N. Harris will join 43 other judges nationwide in the National Judicial College’s “Innovative Leadership/Management Skills for Future Court Leaders” program.

Participating judges will attend two in-person sessions at the NJC in Reno, Nevada, and five companion webcasts. Each judge will be asked to identify a current or prospective court operations initiative as a problem-solving exercise.

“Utilizing an interactive learning environment including individual presentations and small group activities, participants will gain practical, valuable, and applicable skills in sessions addressing project management, problem solving, and communication,” according to the NJC.

As for judges Donnelly and Harris, each expressed appreciation after being nominated by Supreme Court of Ohio Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor.

“I greatly appreciate the Chief Justice’s nomination,” Judge Donnelly said. “I look forward to developing new skills designed to improve our Justice System.”

Judge Harris said: “I am honored by the Chief Justice’s nomination and look forward to representing Ohio’s judges with this unique opportunity.”
